Investors offered a fee-free exit window

Investors in with-profits policies should take advantage of opportunities to exit their investments without penalty, according to financial advisers, as new figures show that the annual bonus rates on nearly 100 with-profits bonds are less competitive than returns on cash savings.

This advice came in the same week that Friends Provident announced it was freezing most of its regular bonus rates, in spite of improved investment returns. Bonus rates were held for policyholders in the Axa Sun Life and Sun Life Assurance with-profits funds that Friends acquired last year – although some unitised pension plan holders in Friends’ main with- profits fund will see modest increases in their bonuses.

North Carolina residents could see home insurance rate hikes

0

Homeowners in North Carolina may soon want to compare home insurance rates, as they may find sharp increases in premiums due to a new proposal from insurers.

In recent weeks, insurers in the state have been looking to raise certain home insurance rates in North Carolina from 7 to 25 percent. The change, which would be made effective this year, would increase the price of coverage on some homes by an average of 21 percent statewide, according to estimates by The North Carolina Rate Bureau.

The insurers say the increases will be made on dwelling fire coverage. Read all post…

Organize Some Lunch Meet-ups

Bringing people in your community together can be a great networking tool. Who? Other agents within your company, if you’re a captive agent. If you’re an independent agents, other such agents in your area. Or maybe people who work in the industries related to the type of insurance you sell.

For instance, if you sell car insurance, maybe you could gather together local car dealers and mechanics to talk about a safety campaign. Or if you’re in the health insurance industry, maybe you could get together doctors, nurses and other practitioners to talk about the effects of insurance reform. Whate

Auto insurance rates could soon drop in Wisconsin

Wisconsin residents who compare auto insurance rates may soon see premiums drop across the state if a current legislative plan passes.

The Republican-sponsored bill would repeal the auto insurance coverage increases that many industry regulators say have caused premiums to rise since their enactment in 2009.

Despite appeals by many Democrats, the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance has lobbied in support of the bill and says that policyholders in the state are likely to be affected differently by the changes depending on their coverage. The bill would return the minimum requirement for coverage back to comparable levels from 2008.

PMI evolves in response to NHS cuts

Insurers are preparing to plug the growing gaps in state healthcare provision as the National Health Service faces the most radical reform in its 62-year history.

Providers are launching new policies, or tweaking existing plans, as evidence emerges that the NHS is being stretched by the need to find up to £20bn in efficiency savings, and undertake structural reform.

The Royal College of Nursing recently said that some NHS trusts were already cutting jobs and services “at an alarming rate” with up to 27,000 nursing positions earmarked to go. Some Read all post…

How Going to Local Networking Events Can Help

There’s a lot to be gained from making some at various events in your area where businesspeople of all stripes get together to trade business cards, schmooze and maybe have a meal. It’s never a bad thing to let people in your community, especially other business owners, know that you’re out there, too.

Something for the (Christmas) Weekend

0

Here’s a bit of light hearted mockery for this lovely Christmassy weekend.

This poor woman is stuck in the snow and unfortunately for her doesn’t really have a clue. After scraping away the snow from her front wheels, on her rear wheel drive car (yes, it’s a 1 Series owner) she then leaves her automatic car in gear and tries to push it out. I do think the person recording this is in need of some serious Christmas cheer though, as they choose to film and not help.

Remember drive safe in the snow and have a great Christmas. Enjoy!
