Highmark Products Receive Distinction from ‘America’s Best Health Insurance Plans’

If you are just about to purchase health insurance plan, lucky you as there is a recent ranking released by U.S. News & World Report and National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) regarding “America’s Best Health Plans”. Based on the report, two of Highmark Inc.’s health insurance products are among “America’s Best Health Insurance Plans 2009-10”. SecurityBlue, Highmark’s Medicare Advantage HMO, ranked 32nd on U.S. News & World Report’s list of the best Medicare plans while Keystone Blue, offered under Highmark’s subsidiary Keystone Health Plan West, Inc., ranked 47th in the Commercial HMO category.

“The NCQA designation is proof of Highmark’s commitment to offer excellent, high-quality products and customer service,” said Donald Fischer, M.D., Highmark’s chief medical officer. “Partnering with our network providers, Highmark continues to stress the importance of preventive care as an important and cost-effective way to keep our members healthy.”

Highmark earned an “Excellent” status on both plans, earning four stars in the following categories: Access & Service; Qualified Providers, Staying Healthy, Getting Better and Living with Illness.

NCQA accreditation is a nationally-recognized endorsement that consumers and regulators can utilize to get more information on a specific health plan. As a matter of fact, consumers can compare the report cards of more than 300 health plans that participate voluntarily in the NCQA review process.
