Open Question: is it right to give so much to their children that the parents never have any money left to do anything?
my wife and i have 21 and 14 year old daughters…we both make just about the same from our work…both daughters have always been taken care of and have never needed or wanted for anything…the 14 year old get a nice amount of money every week for an allowance and gets even more money every weekend so that she can do things with her friends…i am not sure she has ever heard the word “no” when she has asked for something…that goes for the 21 year old as well…she is in college that is getting paid for by us…she lives with her aunt that lives close to the school which saves us money as she stays there for free because the aunt loves her there to help out…we bought her car, pay the insurance, pay when repairs come up etc…she works 20 hours a week at a preschool so any of that money she has for her own…she has no bills what so ever…we still cover her health insurance, but she comes to us for us to “repay” her for he co pays for doctor visits which are no more than 20 bucks…she just had a birthday and we threw a huge family party for her…she had gotten the word out that she wanted money because she had no place to put gifts?…well, she raked in over $1,200 bucks!!!…4 days later she came and got $200 from my wife for new prescription glasses that she had been wanting…now, before you people think i am being “stingy” or not a good parent, i want to help out my girls as much as we can, but where do we draw the line…especially with a 21 year old that is not hurting for money…my wife is the “treasurer” for us as that she is good with our money…it is just that we are paying out so much to our kids that there is none left for us…i can’t remember the last time her and i went out for a “date night”…on valentines day we had to sit at home because we were broke, but the 21 yr. old went away for the weekend with her boyfriend and stayed in a jaquizi sweet and ate at very expensive places…my wife and i buy our clothes at goodwill and discount stores while the girls where nothing but top of the line stuff…am i being unreasonable to think that the adults should be able to have money to have a good time every once in a while?…i would hate to do this because it would seem dishonest, but should i put some money that i make to the side somehow so that i can take my wife out once in a while?…i really feel that our marriage is stale and that staying home all the time is killing our “youthfullness”…any ideas on what i should do or say to change some things?…thanks…

Voting Question: Was this good karma at its best?
I helped a family stranded along the road. There were the mom, dad and a kid. They were almost out of gas, and only enough to get to the gas station. The guy left his wallet at home which was like 30 minutes away. They told me today to call them and get the address and come get the 20.00 I gave them last night. The day after I helped them. I called my car insurance agency to see why my insurance went up and they told me the reason. I then thought of to ask them “does turning 21 and also being in college help to add more discounts to the insurance?” So yeah I saved over $700.00 on my car insurance’s premium. Good karma kicking in? I think so! I’m not even worried about the $20.00!

Resolved Question: reason for home owners discount in Auto insurance?
What are the economic reason for discount in “Auto Insurance” if the person is also a home owner?

I see that even if the home owner insurance is not with the same carrier as Auto Insurance but still auto insurance company gives the home owner discount. And if it is with the same company then it is called “multiple policy” discount.

Also, One of the person has been renting and has the car garage, but that person did get the discount for garaged car but it was less than the home owner discount.

How does the probability of accident or other loss decrease with home ownership?
