If you have booked a holiday to Egypt or another Middle Eastern country, then what are your travel rights? Is your travel insurance valid?
What has the foreign office said about travel to the region?
The foreign office has advised against all but essential travel to Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor and Suez. However, this advice does not currently extend to resorts in the Red Sea such as Sharm el-Sheikh, where hundreds of British holidaymakers tend to go. The FCO says these areas are “a very considerable distance from the affected areas and these resorts remain unaffected”.

Travelers can have MEDEX complaints if a claim is denied or if they are not satisfied with the service they have received. When this is the case, and the policy was purchased through Squaremouth, the traveler has an advocate on their side. This is because every policy comes with the Squaremouth Zero Complaint Guarantee. Investors in with-profits policies should take advantage of opportunities to exit their investments without penalty, according to financial advisers, as new figures show that the annual bonus rates on nearly 100 with-profits bonds are less competitive than returns on cash savings.
This advice came in the same week that Friends Provident announced it was freezing most of its regular bonus rates, in spite of improved investment returns. Bonus rates were held for policyholders in the Axa Sun Life and Sun Life Assurance with-profits funds that Friends acquired last year – although some unitised pension plan holders in Friends’ main with- profits fund will see modest increases in their bonuses.
